Managing spend on pharmaceuticals has always been an important part of our business. Victoria-OS, through its ability to specify first choice suppliers and then cascade to any number of suppliers in a controlled order, has not only helped us manage this; we estimate that it has helped us improve our gross profit (GP) by almost 3% beyond our previous efforts. The system has not only helped us increase spend on PIs and control where we source generics, it has also saved invaluable time for staff in the pharmacy by not having to try to source items when in short supply. We no longer have to spend time checking supplier invoices at the pharmacies to find where we have purchased from the wrong supplier as the software enforces staff compliance to the rules set.
Our group of pharmacies use Victoria-OS to really simplify the ordering of dispensary lines and maximise adherence to the Edinpharm monthly tender. Compliance to both generic and PI price lists has reached new heights since adoption of the system and margin has improved as a result. The ability for us to set up our own warehouse as a supplier on the system and have our stores place orders against it has been the icing on the cake. As a company it’s our policy to manage our own IT systems; we’ve been particularly impressed with EPoS Logic’s willingness to work with us enabling us to retain our existing product file and adopt a flexible roll out schedule that facilitated a seamless transition. iPoS enables us to easily deploy and manage the same system across a number of sites without worrying about version numbers or local backups as the online nature of the software takes care of that.
It provides us with all of the functions we expect from a POS system including regular product and price files from all of our main suppliers and integration with our card payment terminals; some of the functionality such as the multi-buy promotions and stock take, are really detailed. At our head office having real time access to data and a substantial library of reports has proved very useful.
For me the acid test of a system is how often I have to pick up the phone and call the support line, with iPoS I’ve hardly needed to make a call and it really has proved a valuable addition to our retail operation.”
